UAW workers caught smoking weed and drinking beer.

I've heard that some surgeons perform surgery drunk, or that some pilots used to fly around coming off a bender. Lots of functional drunks in this world.

Neither says anything about the majority of people in the same field, does it?

Yes...Because we all know that only the UAW workers of the world are smoking pot...lol.

Why cant people understand, there is always a certain percentage of people in ANY field you could care to name that have a dependency problem.

Because people have to find some reason, any reason, to demonize the "evil" UAW.

If our '97 Aerostar was assembled by weed smoking beer swilling UAW members, I hope that Ford can find some more of them to hire, since the Aero was as durable and as reliable as any vehicle we have ever owned from any American, British, German or Japanese manufacturer.

I'm glad they were fired, they deserve to be. That type of job performance absolutely cannot be tolerated. I also belong to a union.

Agree completely. The big reason that unions got a bad name was protecting these kind of dirt-bags. Standing up for the guys that come to work and do their job right is what it was they were meant for.

I am a union member myself but it always has annoyed me that the union spends 90% of its time and resources defending 5% (the usual abusers) of the membership.
When the unions stop defending that which isn't defensible, they (we) may gain the
respect of the public again.

My truck was built at about the same time that a Twin Cities local news "undercover investigation" found that workers at the Ranger plant were smoking pot during every cigarette break.

They did install a seat belt backwards, but otherwise the truck came out fine.

My brothers union (in the construction trades) recently had virtually the entire exectutive board indicted. They were taking kickbacks allowing non-union (illegals) to work (while many in the local were out of work). They were also buying cocaine and partying and squandering union dues on lavish lifestyles.
The sad part is that the retirement fund may not be solvent.
Union Leadership is often no different than our politicians and that's not saying much.
PS: The vast majority of my union are hard working and honest but there is always the 5% that abuse the system.

This is nothing more than anti-Union BEE ESS.

NO UNION would seriously fight this. Now, they will defend the workers because THEY ARE REQUIRED TO BY LAW.

I work at a 100% Union shop. One night a co-worker came in for third shift and I knew he had been drinking. Long story short, he was FIRED within 72 HOURS!

FIRED!

72 HOURS!!!

And that was only because it was a Saturday night.

I watched this story and it is completely BOGUS. It's nothing more than typical media hype, and doesn't reflect reality.

If you buy it and use it support your "opinion" of Unions, then I feel sorry for what's left of your brain.
