Today while at a Sears Hardware, I saw both Craftsman and GearWrench with the "Twisted Wrench"... it's supposed to be easier on the hands when really torquing on it. I love the idea, man they look weird. If I NEEDED any more wrenches, I'd consider it.

My boring wrenches will do for now.

they're awsome actually i find myself normally struggling to get stuff off 20 yr + bolts that never seen a wrench and u can normally put alot more force behind these and your hand doesnt hurt from the thin side profile of most wrenchs. if u use them alot or have hand problems i'd recommend them

Not sure I can see any advantage to twisted wrenches. I'm passed the point in life, where I buy tools just because they are a different design. Ed

After changing 3 struts on my car this weekend without an impact gun to run the spring compressor, I can see where the twist has some advantages. My hands were pretty sore the next day and now have a good appreciation why lifts were invented as well!
I won't get a set of twisted wrenches either but I can see how a full time mechanic wants every advantage they can get with their tool set.

They work pretty well. I have a GearWrench 5-piece set. Between the twist and additional length they are quite easy to use. The twisted part lets one effectively palm the wrench. They're more comfortable to use on tight bolts than the regular wrenches. Obviously I'll go for a ratchet first, and to these after the ratchet can't get to the bolt.

I don't own any, but I also want some.

My cheapo "Made in Taiwan" wrenches that my Father gave me for Christmas before I went off to college seem to be indestructible. And I ended up with my Grandfather's tools. All of them Classic Made in USA Craftsman.

So I cannot justify buying any more wrenches.

However, after playing with some I imagine you can get a significant amount of torque out of the twisted wrench before it started hurting your hand compared to the traditional wrench.

One more thing to add to my list...

The idea is one of those... "Why didn't I think of that"... by the twist, they give your hand a bigger surface area where the max pressure is.. More push with less discomfort. Groovy. Same reason I like my SK ratchet handles over the Craftsman.. I can pull harder without it hurting my hands.

I have used one for a short period of time and it felt odd. I did not need an extra amount of force. Why not just a wrench that is a little longer? My "first to grab" wrenches are Craftsman box-end wrenches. I get 2 sizes with each wrench, so if I am unsure of the size, maybe I need 2 wrenches?
