Tweaking XP Pro for cable internet

I stopped paying for Uncle Bill's world domination megalomania at W2K, so I can't speak for XP Pro from experience, but I would take an educated guess and say yes since he copied the network stack from publicly funded research.

XP pro is more optimized than previous OS's for broadband connectivity. I would say don't bother with it.

When I had 2000 Pro I used cablenuts tweaking and had the registry setting for RCV window at 367000 something +- and scaling was turned on. You get to a point were fragmentation becomes a problem and data has to be resent.

theres no need to do anything to Xp pro. only thing i can think of right now is. adjust your cache settings to 80mb or less. too much cache slows your internet down.

The IP stack in XP and W2000 is borrowed from FreeBSD. The FreeBSD IP stack is widely reguarded to be the fastest and best in the world. No need to mess with it.

Please expand on this one. This is the first time I've ever heard of this.
