Tuff Torq K66 fluid change

I'm planning on changing the hydro fluid in my John Deere G110 with the K66 transmission before winter. This machine has over 500 hours on the original fluid. I remembered seeing the recommendation for a synthetic 50 weight oil on here so I bought Mobil 1 15w50. Now going back I have found the recommendation was 5w50. This tractor is used frequently in the winter for blowing snow. Would it be wise to go back and buy the 5w50 or will the 15w50 be fine?

Once it is warmed up it will be fine. Power Steering? If so, it will be dead slow until the oil warms. Just changed out oil on a Massey 2723 and it called for 10W30...strange...In the winter the power steering is a little slow until oil warms up.

I use Mobil 1 15w50 in my JD TufTorque. However, I live in South Florida. The tractor is sometimes used on cool days, while the grass does not grow quickly in the "so called" winter, it's perfect weather for heavy duty yard work. We did get some temps down into the 20's last year and I don't recall ever noticing any sluggish performance.

Generally, on cool days, I use the tractor to mulch up piles of debris and tow the trailer around to move firewood.

I changed my K61 oil a couple years ago to Mobil 1 15w50. I couldn't find the 5w50 flavor but the 15w50 works great in mine and I'm sure it will do a good job for you as well. Mine is stored in a heated garage so the temps wouldn't be an issue for me but I'm thinking the 15w50 would be fine for you even in CT. Just be gentle with it for the first few minutes until the transmission warms a little. Thanks

I ended up getting some Castrol Edge 5w50 from Advance Auto. Considering how much snow we got last winter, I want this machine to be ready for the big storm!

How much oil is needed to service the trans?

From what I have read, around 2.5 quarts.
