Trying to get multiple opinions on

X79 is a Quad channel board, so make that four sticks of Ram. Why the Surveillance HD? Its probably fine, but I thought it was a little odd. If you are going to spend this much spend the extra coin and get a SSD. 256-512GB. Absolutely a must have with this type of system. I have a Samsung 830 which is limited by my SATA2 interface. Completely saturates it. Keep the HD for bulk storage, but put the OS and important programs on the SSD.

+1 on the SSD - ay least 256mb. Look for Samsung 840 Pro, Mushkin or Crucial M4 or anything Intel. I suggest staying with 2 sticks of 8mb ram. What monitor(s) are you using?

Mmmm, I'd swap out for these Personally. X79 is overkill, and Intel won't be making motherboards for much longer, they've announced they are stopping. I will be using a 1080p Full HD TV 22inch as my main monitor. But when my family is gone somewhere I will be using my big screen 52 inch 1080p HDTV.

I noticed the ram I chose says something about z77 will it still be useable with x79?

' For only a single 1080p monitor, you don't need that graphics card. Look at this instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150609 It's what I have an it easily handles anything I throw at it at max settings without a problem. Easily oc'ed to exceed 7870/6990 performance without effort.

Yes, it is just dual channel instead of quad.
