If the Group III’s are “#@$%!.” … then what are the PAO’s? You might consider a Group III.

If not, and it has to be PAO, then I would probably go Amsoil.
 
I want to make it clear that i have nothing against m1 0w-40, I'd be willing to bet it's probably one of their best formulas. I just don't like labeling an oil as a true grp IV/V synthetic without proof. Just like i wouldn't like labeling an oil as a "fake" grp III synthetic without proof.
 
I think that conventional wisdom is what demands we know what the base fluid is comprised of...and conventional wisdom is often the most ignorant in the room.

I agree, Mokanic...I also like oils that work real good, and I could care less if they were formulated with monkey sweat or PAO.

I have found that speculating about an oils performance, using the base oil makeup as the only criteria, is an exercize in futility...mostly employed by conventional wisdom and it's flunkies.

seal compatibility? lets see i been using redline, torco, and motul in all my fords and none!! have a drop of a leak!!150000 on vic 112000 on conti 65000 expy.alot as to do with your maitenance shed. and not let your/or any oils go past 3000 miles they might last along time but they also collect alot of garbage in the oil/ acid is a big problem that eats seals, gaskets etc.
 
Mobil ! was 29.99 at my Walmart
Castrol Semi Syn was 16.xx

Both will work fine, guess which one I bought.
When I change it out it gets pitched , Cheaper wins if it works and I have no doubt it works.
