Truck is destroying alternators?

i dont think so. the alternator has some loss associated with it (the windings have resistance etc etc) and this is given off as heat. so the heat from the engine and the heat from generating power both make the alternator hot. most alternators have a small fan to help keep the unit cool. it does not seem to do a great job but it seems to be enough.
 
The heat and the noise can be caused by a stretched belt and consequently the tensioner is not putting enough tension on it. Try a new belt and see what happens.

I replaced the belt when I did the alternator, not too many weeks/miles ago. Same thing as how it was with the old (GM) belt (this time I used a gatorback belt).

The battery is fine, its a delco ultraguard gold that cant have anything added. Does not give any external signs of an issue, such as any white junk, signs of leakage, etc.
