Truck in shop closed by Covid

My oldest daughter has an autoimmune disorder. Her doctor has encouraged her to be very cautious...as Covid has a tendency to high jack some people's immune systems. Often those are the people who don't make it.

While I don't live my life in a bubble by any means, I do try to take simple, prudent measures to mitigate the chances of contraction....thereby lessening the possibility I could be a danger to my family....daughter in particular.

My neighbor lost his mother to Covid right after Christmas. One of my dear friends as lost 2 family members and 2 life long friends to it. My wife's closest friend is nearly 1 year out from it and still doesn't have her "runner's lungs" back. She's all but quit running which was everything to her. Her doctor told her the lung damage may very well be permanent.

I'll never understand how cavalier and uncaring certain elements of our society are. Ignorance, lack of caring and rights don't out weight the health and safety of everyone else.

My sister in law has her truck in the shop for a valve cover gasket and now the shop is closed temporarily because a mechanic got Covid. She is afraid to get it back. I told her to put on a mask and gloves and take it to a detail shop when she gets it back and tell them it was exposed.

Why?

How long can covid live on surfaces?

Here, I did the research for her:
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/how-long-will-coronavirus-survive-on-surfaces/

3 days on plastic, if there’s actually Covid on the surfaces, if the tech that is infected was in the vehicle. Lots of nested issues.

Wear gloves to drive it home and use care for a few days. Not a big deal, IMO..

thought that the virus spread from human to human.

Not human, to plastic dashboard 48 hours later to another human.

San Antonio is reporting 78 virus positives in about 1.6 million population today i think your good.
If you take this free contact tracing course, it basically tells you to track contacts to contain the spread. Nothing about cleaning surfaces to stop it. It's got some good information in it even if you don't want to be a contact tracer. I took it a while ago just to see what it was about.

If I were really worried about it I’d get an aerosol can of disinfectant, wrap a rubber band around the sprayer, toss it into a floor board, and close the door while it sits in the sun for a few hours.

But not that worried about it to sell it for $450?

Do I hear $500?

Well, according to your own people, you'd be wrong: https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/ed483ecd702b4298ab01e8b9cafc8b83

Why in the heck are people still guessing at these things? Human to human only? ridiculous and borderline stupid!

My heart + lungs are shot and I'm almost 70. Getting my 1st shot, I was inside a building with more people than I been with in months. Everyone was masked and 6 feet apart. Heck, flue or pneumonia, could get me . Nary a sniffle this yr. I'm gonna be masked in public a few months more. And I might go around with a mask next flu season just 'cuz

I'm not as old as you and this was the first winter with out me catching a cold. Once this whole COVID thing is over-I do not know about the mask thing- but I am carrying hand sanitizer and using it when I walk out of a retail establishment. Got my first Pfizer COVID shot about a week ago-get the next one on the 30th.

The POTUS assured me the Wuhan flu is a hoax. You have nothing to worry about, other than a case of the sniffles.
Past or present presidents haven't said the virus is a hoax. Now when you have governors not following their own orders/ do as we say, not as we do sort of thing, it does make one wonder... Little business closed, but you can go to the local WM or board a plane?

I have a friend who had it and it was nothing more than a cold. A co worker got it and he was out of work for over 2 months and on oxygen and is what I consider very healthy.

I will tell her what you all said. May even have her read your posts but this girl worries over everything. Then she calls my wife and I end up texting the mechanic for what is going on with it. Had it taken in for a valve cover gasket and it makes a noise like 2 lifter are going at it when she puts her foot on the brake. That one has me stumped. It is a 2006 Dakota with 4.7L .
