At $1.68 per quart, I used this to top off a friend's Mom's ride. Took the bottle home, and now I'm wondering why I'm not using this stuff. From what I read on the bottle, I feel foolish running Mobil 1.

Any thoughts?

Very good oil, but not the same as Motorcraft . At a $1.68 a quart thats a steal. Buy all you can , CP had a price increase of .45 cents a gallon on 12-30-07.

The problem is availability; not a lot of Walmarts carry it. It has been a great value oil and those who have access to it use it. There are many posts on it about 1-2 years ago.

It is claimed that it is similar to MC but many of those claims are based on that both are produced by Conoco-Phillips companies - current MC contract. I see the CP brands on the same level as SOPUS brands, some similarities, but also differences; you can see it in the PDS'. MC just contracts with a producer and can change without notice, even change the mix. The latest post I read on MC is that the smell recently changed; whatever that is worth. BL (bottom line), it is a good product, I like the specs and $1.68 makes it more attractive.

I ran a TA OC in my wife's car and had no complaints; I am going to finish the remainder of the case in my car. I bought the case on vacation and the nearby WM that had only 1 case otherwise I would have bought more. Too bad it is not available in any WM's in my area.

i remember when i joined BITOG, it was all the rave... a very well performing semi-syn for cheaper than most dino oils... people were posting accolades on a daily basis for this oil back then.

If I could find it in 5w20 for that price, I would use it. My Walmart carries it in limited quantities, but never in 5w20.

definitely a good buy i've been using it on and off in several of my vehicles

went Havoline prices went over 2 bucks a quart i went to Tropartic as a good cheap alternative oil

I used the Super 76 clone awhile back. My wear numbers dropped from the previous Mobil 1 usage. I had a headgasket leak on my Sentra. So I didn't really know how my readings should of been.

What I read on here. It might be a semi-synthetic, but it uses mostly group II oils with a tad group III. I just use a good group II+ oil now. I can still find the Super 76 for about $1.50 a quart around where I live.

The (Great) Wall (of China) Mart two miles from my house used to carry it at that price. It's been gone a while. And the other Marts in the Greater New Orleans area are either too far away for me to check often, or when I do get near one they're more crowded than Woodstock.

I wish I could find the Super 76 stuff. My closest Big Lots once had it, last summer I think, but not any more.

I'd love to use it. The problem is the Wal-Marts in my area don't have it, let alone the 5w20 version. My parents wal-mart, 2 hours away, carries it. Maybe I'll have to start importing it to my home.

Or any other kind of dino oil.

TropArtic-- It was in my local Walmarts a year ago priced at $1.48 a quart. I think they maybe had 10w30 and 5w30, 5w for sure. Never saw any 5w-20. At that price I thought it was a good deal.

Everytime I went to Wally World I picked up a couple quarts. I guess I have used it for maybe 4 or 5 OCIs. The last one is in the truck now. Never had a problem, but that doesn't say much, heck I have never had an lube oil related problem.

Never done a UOA, not on TA or any other oil I have ever used. At the cost of the UOA it is just not needed, besides I probably couldn't figure out what the numbers were telling me anyway.

By the way I belong to the "change my oil the cheapest way I can" club. It is now my policy to not pay over $1 a quart for oil. Closeouts at AA and AZ are my friends. Havoline, Q-Torque, Coastal FS, Formula Shell. Lots of not just good oils but great oils available out there for $1 or less.

XPR belongs to a different club, what ever makes him happy.

TA is SM rated....thus it's good for 5k miles (on most engines since YMMV).

Use it and sleep well at night.

A few years back TropArctic and Motorcraft were the same animal, could still be the case, I'm just not sure about it. I'm still kicking myself for not buying every quart I could get my hands on when Dollar Tree had it for a buck a quart.
