Orscheln has Trop Artic on sale for $1.99 a quart until Dec. 15th. I bought some 5W-30 to put in my two 92 Cavaliers and some 5W-20 for my fiancée's 2007 Mustang GT. They are all due for oil changes soon and since this oil is supposed to be pretty good, I'm going to try it. I would try it in my new 2014 Mustang GT but I had already bought some Motorcraft for it.

I thought about stocking up on this oil but the 07 Mustang only gets about 2,000 miles a year put on it and the oil gets changed once a year and the two Cavaliers have oil leaks so I don't know how the semi-synthetic is going to do in them.

Do any of you guys stock up on this oil when it's this cheap?

I stock up on any oil when it's cheap.

Syns don't cause leaks and even bulk "conventional" oil is often semi-syn. So go nuts stocking up.

I agree. If it's that cheap buy all you can afford. Just have enough storage space.

Trop-Artic is good oil. I used to buy it when Target stores sold it.

My pop says it was the best way back when....

Buy it cheap and stack it deep!

Dave, what's your sig line about?

I guess I will go buy some more before the sale ends. How long of a shelf life does most oil have? The only vehicles that I own that are daily drivers are the two Cavaliers. The Mustangs and trucks don't get much miles put on in a year so they are on once a year OCI's. I don't want to buy too much and it goes bad before I can use it. Thanks.

I just bought some for 2.39 a qt & thought I got a good deal. Use to buy it when was 1.68 & no problems. I'm draining it putting back in jug & see if they will price match? lol

Oil doesn't really go bad unless you store it in an unheated garage. I think most places say it has a 5 year shelf life and that's just because in that time frame rating keeps getting better liken SM to SN oils.

The modular Fords are not too picky when it comes to oil. They will run forever. I know taxis with the modular that have 600K miles in NYC... That oil will be fine on the 2007.

Running it now, great stuff! I have a UOA planned for a closer look but I'm still 1700 miles away from that.

I'm planning to go back tomorrow and get another case for the other cars. When Dad does all the oil changes they can't complain about what I put in it!

Doesn't matter they will like it anyway. It runs really quiet and smooth.

Trop Artic is basically the same as Motorcraft oil, it's just that they don't have to pay for all the Motocraft advertising. I go to Orsceln stores several times a month and the majorit of my gasoline engines have Trop Artic oil in them.
Use with confidence.

Ok, thanks everyone. I will go pick up some more. I forgot but my chevy K3500 is coming up on it's yearly oil change so I will need to get some more for it at least. I've been running PYB in everything other than the 07 Mustang and we have been running Motorcraft in it since my fiancée bought it in 2010. She likes to keep her Ford vehicles using Motorcraft oil but I convinced her that the Trop Artic would be just as good and that it was made by the same company as Motorcraft.

Well, I ended up with about three cases worth of various viscosities. That should do me for a little while. They said it goes on sale quite often.
