Trip to Wal-Mart

Went by Whale-Mart yesterday to pick up some TP so I figured I'd check out the oil department.

They definitely have zero shelf space for Mobil 7500. No quarts, no cases, no big jugs. Still no sign of the "new" Mobil 1 5W-40 turbo diesel. They do have a wide selection of the rest of the Mobil 1 and 5000 varieties, lots of Pennzoil and Castrol. A few Syntec grades I didn't even know existed, a 10W-40 and 20W-50.

Any insider info out there on when Mobil 1 5W-40 will be back on shelves?

fwiw-One Wal-mart where I live had clearanced last 6 qts of Mobil 7500 10w30 at $1.50/qt. Another Wal-mart in nearby town had clearanced Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w30. Don't recall seeing the 5W-40; but I really wasn't looking for it, either.

Most WM's near me have no Mobil 7500 at all. One has a case or two put up on a *high* shelf, marked at $2/qt. That's a decent deal in this area(we *never* get the $.49/qt Chevron, etc) but I have so much oil already that I'm resisting temptation so far!

Locally almost all of the Mobil 7500 has been clearance out for $2/qt several weeks ago. Today at the local Wal - Mart there was a lone bottle of 10w30 Mobil 7500 for $1.50, which is the only time that I have seen it at that price. Also the Mobil 1 Truck/SUV 5W-40 has finally been clearanced out for $3.50 /qt.

Strangely there is still some Chevron 10W-40 left on odd spots (not with the other oils) on the Walmart shelves and the Mobil EP 15W-50 still in the clearance spot, but neither of them have been marked down.

The Troy, OH Walmart store is the only store locally (out of all stores) that seems to carry a HDEO in 10w30 and only in Shell Rotella T. This store has not carried Grp III 5W-40 Rotella synthetic in a few months now.

All of the Castrol and most Pennzoil ATF have been clearanced out at Walmart. Picked up 12 qts the other day @ 2$/qt, which has not a great bargain, but here in Ohio we never seem to have any sales on ATF and at best most auto stores sales will beat Walmart every day low oil prices by 10 or maybe 20 cents out the door if you are really lucky.

The new 5W-40 should be on WalMart shelves in May sometime.... or-so I read somewhere in early winter that the target date was May 1st.
