Tried NuFinish

Read a review/comparison awhile back.

Nu-Finish was highly rated.

Of the two Nu-Finish types, liquid and paste, the nod was given to the paste version for lasting a little longer.

I don't see the paste version as often but it sneaks onto Mal-Wart shelves around these parts from time-to-time.

Step up to a more modern product. The technology of sealants has really improved since Nu Finish was first marketed.

I am open to suggestions, if you can suggest one that will be a simple once or twice a year application that survives being outside 24/7. And be a single application (no three step process).

Alex.

Nothing will last 6 months to a year unless it's on a garage queen.
Liquid Glass,Rejex,Klasse AIO,Duragloss,1Z Einszett Glanz Wax,Zaino AIO, etc.
Stay away from MeGuiars NXT.It doesn't last long,IMO.

I've gone 6 months with Collinite and the water beading was still amazing. It could have gone longer. I do keep my car in a garage over night, but it's a daily driver in all kinds of weather.
I'm currently using Zaino and after 4 months it's still going strong. If it doesn't last 6 months for me, I'm going back to Collinite.

I slightly prefer the yellow bottle stuff called 2001 over the Nu-Finish. I've seen my vehicles bead well over six months using 2001. Both Nu-Finish and 2001 are not the best for shine, but for only using one application, nothing I found works better in Michigan's road salt winters.

I beg(actually, I never beg) to differ.
I put NuFinsh on my Cherokee in late summer or early fall and it's still beading in June, and it's definitely not a garage queen.

The only wax/polish I've ever used that's lasted a year was Zaino. Nothing else I've used has even come close.

Looks great.

I really like the choice of aftermarket rims. For some reason when I look at the pictures with the rims you chose, I think of an audi 90.

Thanks I like them too. The shape of them goes well with the shape of the car better than the other choices I had. Someone else in a nearby town thought so as well because I saw an identical car like mine with those same wheels driving by once. I like the 15" wheels better but it wouldve been more than what I had to spend after buying tires for them so I went with the 14". The metallic wheel color matches great with the paint. Theyre borget type B wheels. I got them from tirerack but if I remember right I dont believe they sell them there anymore.

Form an older bitog thread. The Miata link doesn't seem to work anymore but they're still discussing the same thing we're doing here; long lasting Nufinish vs 'depth/wetness.etc.' of shine.

I finally found a NuFinish vs Zaino comparison on cars that aren't garaged;

http://forum.miata.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=000664

Well time has passed so here's the results. Test beds were daily drivers, not garaged, not covered, outdoor FL cars. 6 cars in total of all shades and colors (4 neighbors' and 2 mine)

NuFinish:
Application Easy on/Easy off: B+
Appearance: A-
Washing: Easy
Stains: Came out easily at first and more difficult toward the end.
Endurance: B++
Overall Rating: B+

Zaino:
Application Easy on/Easy off: C+ (based solely on the time between offs and ons)
Appearance: A-
Washing: Easy
Stains: After the first week, bird droppings seemed to go right through the stuff. Most recently tree droppings (yellow buds from Rain Tree) have left stains that washing alone will not remove.
Endurance: Except for where stained A-
Overall Rating: B+

[one product deleted]

No reapplications/touchups were made to any of these cars -- each was washed weekly or more often.

With the exception of Z's apparent absorbtion of stains it was the "BEST" shine endurance of the three but the stain issue is not good. (I duplicated that results on a non-test car to be sure I had the application correct.) If, the cars were garaged, Zaino would be my choice of the three tested. All three initial shines were "EXCELLENT." Stoners' ease of application and no waiting removal suggests it may be a product well suited for all but the most picky...it would be my choice for an outside car if refreshed monthly. NuFinish was the "hardest" and most durable of the three but did not retain the shine of the other two. The cars used had some of each product on differing panels.

Usually bird droppings will not cause stain on a healthy paint surface. On a healthy surface the clear coat will adhere to the pores in the paint. Once damaged, I would suspect the clear coat isn't protecting the paint. Also if the paint is damaged, any type of wax or sealant will not last.

Heat and UV will degrade any paint surface. Having your vehicle parked in the shade(car cover) and garage is still the best bet in protection. Wax and clear coat protection is protecting the clear coat and the pores in the paint. Also the wax should be able to breath but that's another debate ... some says it should some says it doesn't matter.
