Just bought a new TRD filter. Part number PTR43-00080 for my 2000 Camry 1MZ-FE it would appear to be made by Champion laboratories. Has an AA stamped on the base plate. It looks to be the same as a Royal Purple filter. Has a K&N nut on the top and a Toyota style rounded O-ring. Picked it up for $9.11 from a local Toyota dealer.

Just wanted to say that the TRD filter does cross reference with alot of other vehicles. I read a post that Royal Purple filters were sold exclusively at PepBoys for $15 and some people do not have a store close to them. This is another option as Toyota dealers are everywhere and online.

I'd be interested in the media specs as well. I've been thinking of using a similar TRD filter (ptr43-00082) that uses the same media.

From the filter box it says.

1. 100% synthetic glass/polyester blend filtration media that's 98% efficient at 20 microns.

2. Heavy-duty pressure relief valve allows oil flow during cold starts.

3. High temperature, blue silicone anti-drainback valve retains oil in the filter to prevent dry starts.

4. Ported and polished backplate provides smooth oil inlet holes reducing oil restriction.

Doesn't a Purolatr PureOne beat the 98%@20um spec at around $6?

I am not nuts about that nut either...

Could you post what a beta rating is? I don't know what that means.

My Toyota dealer nearby only has the OEM (Denso) filters on the shelf. Could I ask for TRD at any Toyota dealer?

It is the efficiency of the filter.

I have to say that is an odd graphics design printed on the front of the box. Is that supposed to be duct tape and cardboard?

I thought it look like duct tape and a brown paper bag.

Thanks. I can't find a TRD part number that crosses online. They may not make them fit mine. I'll ask at the dealer.

"TRD High Performance Oil Filters incorporate state-of-the-art design and materials offering superior protection. The filter uses 3 plies of 100% synthetic glass/polyester blend filtration meida that 98% efficient at 20 microns - that's smaller than pollen. Built with a heavy-duty pressure valve that allows oil flow during cold starts, a high temperature anti-drain back valve that retains oil in the filter to prevent dry starts, and a ported and polished backplate provides smooth oil inlet holes reducting oil restriction. "

anyone know of a cross ref. for other cars/trucks??
