Hi all,

I want to thank everyone here and especially
the TP filter people for sharing their information.

Through your insights and experiences I decided to
buy a Trasko filter for my Peugeot 107 1000cc which
runs on LPG.

First day of use today and has already cleaned the oil.
The oil becomes yellow as time passes.
Within a few km, it has become almost completely transparent again, very difficult to see on the dipstick.

(Kalos irthate!)

Oil gets darker primarily from soot. Soot particles are so small that they don't cause any wear. But it does tell you that it's working.

I have used a Trasko filter for about 60,000 miles of the 139,000 miles I currently have on our Toyota Highlander. The engine still runs great and doesn't burn oil.

But I don't believe that Trasko filters do a great job filtering out all of the larger wear particles. It's probably no worse than regular full-flow filters but other bypass filters do a much better job of filtering.

Trasko UOA J#1
Trasko UOA #2
Trasko UOA #3

These are the only three UOAs posted in the UOA section using Trasko filters. As you can see, all three of these UOAs have some high wear metals. The wear metals posted with other bypass filters are much lower.

So ,slalom 44, you speak Greek too!!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome.

It seems that with the Trasko, one needs to changed
the oil at specified intervals. That's what I concluded out of your UOAs.

Still, the particle count that you post in one of the UOAs
is impressive, at least compared to others I have seen here.

Notice how on UOA 3, wear metals are good except perhaps for iron!!! Rust going on? Short trips where the engine never warms up? I'm not really an expert. Just thinking out loud.

Considering that Trasko's FF element is only a mesh,
I agree that other bypass filters that work along an FF would post better wear metals.

Another con of the Trasko is that the element is small compared to other bypass filters (at least I think so). I guess that 5-7K miles should be the most I would get from an element considering that other TP filters are changed at ~5K.
