anyone use one of these...I thought about using one on my 95 cherokee (4.0L HO)...I wondered if it would lower my oil pressure...?

I think that is the one with the filter that shows you dont change the oil for some amout like 70K or 170K or whatever, right?
I am and was interested in it too... But I don't like the Photos where it shows the motors top end covered in varnish and crud.... TO me this is not a good thing. I am willing and do in fact, give up a little in WEAR, just to have a cleaner internal motor. Yes, that's right!
I'm still interested because of what it helped the car do ... BUT
donno if I want it that much or that I even need one, being I have a normal Bypass not hooked up!
I used one on my 2001 Dodge Dakota and it worked as promised. My dad is now useing it on his Tacoma and it is working fine on his.TO date with Mobil1 it gets about as dark as a synthetic with 1500-3000 miles on it and then just kind of stays their. The oil never gets opaque(sp) you can always se through it and their is no particles in it at all.
I did go through a paranoid phase when I put it on because of all the bypass flow questions floating around at the time. THis was when bob started his pressure adn flow testing on filters and they thought that something might be wrong with the amsoil dual remote bypass setup. I soon got over it though.
I do not see how you could go wrong even with the cost of replacement cartridges. It is between $69-$89 dollars for the unit and it comes with two filters and and extra set of seals. It is a full flow and a bypass filter all in one. The first time you use it you have to change the filter at 5000 miles after that you can go longer like 10,000 miles between filter cartridge changes. So the kit has everthing you need for the first 15,000 miles. Then you simply buy replacement cartridges for $9.95. Heck people pay $10 for a K&N full flow only spin on.

what about using one of these with an oil gaurd filter...is that overkill? I do alot of miles a year...25k to 50k...and I'd like to keep this jeep running as long as I can...if I go to the local quick lube...it's about $60 a visit for Mobile 1 full syn...
That seems like expensive overkill, Cherokee. The Oil Guard filter and the Trasko are designed to filter down to about the same micron level, but the Oil Guard has more capacity. You're going to keep your oil just as clean with just one or the other.
I like the oil gaurd, but the Amsoil bypass filters look very good also....
I'm thinking I'll try the Trasco next. I was looking into it for my current vehicles, but I have 270k between two of them, and the other is off at college. When my wife decides to get a new car, I'll look into a Trasco for it.
