Is anyone sticking with the 10K recomendation or changing it earier or later.I`m at 8k and the Mobil 1 still has a nice tan color to it.Not to sure what the filter media looks like though.

I went 5000 miles on the first OCI on my Trasko, and I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go much longer than that for the next one. From what I've seen so far from people that have posted, it keeps the TBN up, takes out most of the particles, but still shows wear metals typical of a good full-flow filter.

The way I interpret this, the oil should easily hold up for 10,000 miles. But I'm concerned that as the "TP" element gets loaded with particles, less oil will flow through it, resulting in more larger particles getting through. Those strainers don't filter out much.

I`m really happy with how the oil looks right now but like you mentioned just not sure when the filter media is full. Going to try for 10k and then do a UOA on it.I have a Trasco on my tranny also, installed at the same time. Not sure when to change that one out either?

I have Trasko. I went only 5000 or 7500 miles. Because I noticed someone posted UOA at 10,000 miles for trasko's wear rate pretty mild. I decide stick with 5000-7500 miles that gives lowest wear rate.

Normally a standard sized roll of TP doesn't plug up in a well maintained engine. The wear rate will keep increasing as the miles pile up since the last filter changes. Similar to the miles piling up after an oil drain without proper filtration. The additives in modern oils keep everything in suspension. After awhile agglomeration will start happening and then the filter will clog up. Hopefully the filter is changed before agglomereation takes place. The ATF filter should go at least 50,000 miles between changes of the filter unless the fluid gets hot and starts breaking down into solids. The better the tranny the longer it takes for the TP to reach it's capacity. I just put a dual remote system on a new Dodge Cummins tranny. It is a combination Perma-Cool ATF filter with a 181 Ford sandwich adapter and the Motor Guard submicronic bypass filter. The Perma-Cool mount takes a standard 3/4"/-16 thread oil filter. TP is very effective at 1/10th micron. If you look at a roll of high quality TP you would think nothing could get thru it but it can. Cigarette smoke is about 1/10th micron.

I've gone 10K miles with the Amsoil S2 0w-30 with a K&N oil filter with no change. It filtered ok for that matter but also had a pretty clean engine...say nothing but Amsoil except for the first 1K miles and Trasko at 75K miles. I just put on my second Trasko filter and also notice the oil stays a lot cleaner and TBN doesn't break down. I went 5K for the first oil change with the Trasko initial filter and the filter looked like the oil very clean..light tan color. I don't see no issue of going 10K with second filter as with every engine is different.

I ended up going 10.5 k on the Mobil 1 and the trasco had 8k on it. The screens looked clean in the Trasco but the oil had stared getting dark.I sent in a sample for a UOA and will post the results when they are received.

Does the Trasko take the place of your original spin on filter? or must it be installed in addition to the spin on filter. Their site leads one to believe that it takes the place of the factory filter. If this is true, how can a TP filter have enough flow to feed the engine?

The Trasco screws on where the stock filter would go.The filter has 2 micronic screens for full flow and a small paper roll for the slower bypass filtering. I know it works because I installed it with 2k on Mobil 1 oil and it cleaned it up like new after 100 miles of driving.Still experimenting with how long the paper element will last.

That was my initial fear and will admit I was scared of using this filter cause there has been no real feedback on it's performance.

I'd watch my oil pressure gauge more readily I will admit and even called Trasko about any pressure drop. I wouldn't recommend any race car driver to use it but it has performed well on a Hemi as Trasko states...(They got one for race car drivers too)...

I wanted to find any excuse as was it really as good as they say it is...So far no complaints (Like any other filter but oil stays a lot cleaner than any other spin on filter) but then again I don't hot rod my engine but do blow some 3/4 throttles in 3rd gear to wash the rings and carbon out...Just normaly driving 90/10 highway/city driving...the one thing I would rate this filter is the TBN holds up well...It can easily go 10K with synthetic with no problem...

I know it works because I installed it with 2k on Mobil 1 oil and it cleaned it up like new after 100 miles of driving
I also installed it at about 2K with synthetic and experience the same...oil did get cleaner like new...might be reason the TBN holds well...oil flow might be questionable but after talking with Trasko rep I did ask the same question about oil flow..but was assured the DESIGN of the filter was engineered for such a flaw in oil flow.

I've got the Mobil SUV 5w-40 in now and engine seem to perform on better level. I will get OCI at 5K and post it as engine is performing better with summer heat here.
