I am looking for possible causes, and solutions to the following issue; My 2011 Ford Focus (Auto trans) is making an odd scrapping mixed with a squeaking noise. It only happens at idle, when in park you can hear this noise faintly, it gets louder when shifting into reverse, neutral, drive, etc. This noise started a few days ago. I am in Wisconsin so it is cold, if perhaps ambient temperatures have a factor in this. Things I have checked; the serpentine belt and pulleys, nothing wrong there. So I am stumped.

Double check transmission fluid level.
Temporarily remove the accessory drive belt & retest!

The last thing you need to suspect is the transmission, Especially one that shifts good & doesn't whine!!

I don't work on many Focus's in the land of pick-up trucks.....But the few I have worked on all had at least one busted/broken down motor mount. The "Torque Mount/Strut" is under the vehicle. Also check the exhaust components & heat shields.

You know what happens when you assume.
