I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with the 4.2 I6 and the 4l60e transmission. It came stock with a 2 quart extra capacity deep pan. I want to switch to an aluminum pan and can get one that is a 1 quart extra capacity. Do you think it would be a problem making the switch to a 1 quart less capacity pan?

It shouldn't be a problem. The 1 quart extra pan should come with an extension for the filter that would be needed to make it work if the vehicle has stock depth pan. Which would also works for you since your vehicle probably has an extension that would be a little to long for the new pan. Why do you want to go with a pan with less capacity?

I don't want to go with one with less capacity, just that this one is $100 less.

Original pan is steel, want to switch to aluminum.
