transferring title of a car?

Hello,

I'm in Massachusetts and currently traveling out of the country, so I can't get the answer directly. The registration on my vehicle expires at the end of June. I want to transfer the registration to my new vehicle, but am confused if I will get a new registration sticker or not.

In other words, on a registration transfer - is the registration transferred AND the clock restarts giving me one full year. Or, will the registration expire at the end of the month and I'll have to renew the transfer, thus incurring a transfer fee and a renew fee?

Finally found the answer. Yes, you do get a new "plate decal", so it is in my best interest to transfer the registration.

The title of your post was transferring the title vs transferring plates to a new vehicle.

They might get uptight about something you didn't predict, like excise tax. Will you be retaining the old car just sitting there w/o plates or insurance?

If the plates run out in a week I'd just get new ones. Confused.
