Tranny dying, last ditch efforts?

Naw, Lucas is just really thick grape jelly. It temporary "solves" that leak issue due to that viscosity... but it does not do much more. I want to try Lucas on a head wound... it might work, right?

Maybe getting those "not-so-fine" particles out helped....

It's been fun. Thanks for all the ideas and input. That Lucas stuff really IS a miracle product.

Mine's been on borrowed time for over 6 years after the Lucas fix including running the devil out of it at Mosport 2 days and a 1200 mile round trip to get there. I've been hoping it would die so I could put a 6sp manual in. It's thumbing its nose at me.

Chalk another one up for Lucas. When I was selling cars occasionally one of our managers would take a trade with a bad engine. He had no business taking trades but that was another story. The shop would add LOS to the sump and several were sold that way or wholesaled. I remember a Honda with a knock coming back knocking just after the customer had the oil changed. IIRC it was about 3 months after she bought the car. While I don't personally use any of their products, they can be useful in some instances. Your's is one.

My minivan has been "stable" with lucas and I've used it for several out of town trips. since it hasn't developed new symptoms and drives well now, I haven't worried about it. I know we are on borrowed time, but "borrowed time could be 5 years.... which would be just fine.

Glad you got it going!

Our mechanic's wife just had a baby, so I am not going to bother him for awhile.

I don't know all the details as this is not my car. I was caught off guard when he called and didn't listen very well. After a test drive, I remember he said he pulled a "bad" transmission codes(s) and I remember him saying "bad 3rd. gear ratio", then rattling off half a dozen internal mechanical problem possibilities. He really didn't think it was a fluid problem when I asked, based on symptoms and codes.

He does work for me at his home, but he is a pro mechanic at a MOPAR dealer by day. Long story short, there is no reason for him to lie to me or try to recommend something that isn't there. He is very competent, honest, with integrity - I trust him with my stuff.

Dirty fluid is one symptom of bad 3rd ratio, as is failed internals. Maybe he goofed??

If I find out more I will relay it here.
