Traeger 575pro

From what I see, you can't go wrong with any name brand. I see Pit Boss and Traeger the most around here but have a friend that also has a Louisiana pellet grill and it works just fine as well. Grab that 575 and don't look back.

Traegers were the first but summarily not the best anymore.

I toiled with Camp Chef which is regarded better than Traeger for the money from friends who had them. I looked at Rec-tec which has the best warranty and customer service. My neighbor got a Grilla Grill which also seemed nice but a bit pricey.

I ended up with a Pit Boss which for the money I can't be more please with. I only had one issue with it which was 100% my fault and it involved pellets in the hopper getting wet. This obviously caused the auger to seize and had to be manually cleaned out. I learned my lesson about keeping it covered, that day especially with wind & rain. It also has the open fire box to really char stuff if you prefer. I've used it on burgers & steaks and it does a decent job.

I bought it on sale & Cabella's but have been using anything from Pit Boss to Traeger Pellets. All things turned out great especially the beef tenderloin I did for Christmas considering to me it was overcooked but my family has different standards.

One thing I saw in the thread that I have issue with is "wiping the interior down" after use. You never clean a smoker after use outside of the grate. That's the whole point of the flavor it produces.

My high point was the turkey I did in it, cajun style, as Malcom did it.

I didn't get to eat it all as we were headed on vacation the next day but the people I gave meat too were impressed so I did something right! You'll notice the smoke box which was me experimenting with two kinds of pellets and the neck for my neighbor.
