Has anyone used the TPMS emulators? Vehicle is '08 GMC 2500. Example:

I searched for "TPMS emulator" but didn't find anything.

Please, I'd prefer to avoid: 1) just ignore it, 2) it's required by law or 3) just buy new cheap sensors and install. Those are all wonderful suggestions but not an answer to the question.

YouTube is full of suggestions. I wonder if TPMS can be disabled on a Ford using Forscan?

All I know: on '11-16 SuperDuty, absolutely. I did it personally.

'17+ SuperDuty, I think through '20 or '22. Something changed in the programming at one of those thresholds.

'04-08 F150: no, because so much of the programming is in the instrument cluster and it's not very conversational. HOWEVER, in these trucks it doesn't even beep -- just flashes the light a few times. I asked Texas Speedometer if they thought they could just unsolder the TPMS light, and they seemed to think it would work. I mention only because those need the IC resoldered SOOO often due to ghost dome lamp, BRAKE light and failed odo backlight

I thought Forscan can do '09-14 F150, but not positive.

There's also a "tuner" from a diesel outfit that plugs into the OBD port and specifically states it'll disable TPMS among many other things. But as I understand it it must remain in the port. It's $300 and I'm presently unwilling to pay that.

If it could be used in multiple GMT900s I'd buy it as a tool like Forscan or Carista

I've disabled TPMS on my 2016 F150 with Forscan. I don't think it's mandated in Canada and I have winter tires without sensors installed for half the year anyway so I've turned it off full time. The screen where it would normally show the pressure for each wheel just shows a couple of dashes instead of numbers.

Also I don't understand the pressurized capsule method. Pretty sure the sensors "sleep" and need rotation to wake?
My understanding is they would broadcast a signal regardless regularly, and the lower the battery life and pressure the more frequently it broadcast. It has nothing to do with rotation.

I tried doing the PVC pipe bomb on my wife's prius but the sensors didn't wake up (via rotation or whatever) so it was a dud. Held air perfectly and was otherwise well-engineered.

The dumb steelies I picked out had a bad angle on the valve stem holes, so the bolt-in sensors got wedged in a condition that led to air leaks.

Quoting myself, I ordered this. Shipped out of Montreal. It charges via mini USB but on my non-profit's '08 Sierra all the power ports are hot all the time.

I opted to tap into the SEO upfitter stuff under the dash. Some of those are hot all the time and some are switched with ignition. I also ordered a hardwire kit for a dash cam because it's cleaner and provides the necessary 5V USB output.

I buried the unit in the interior and so far it's working!

@clinebarger do you happen to know a part # for a plug with pigtails for the SEO output near driver left foot? Right now I've slipped insulated female spades over the TINY male spades, but that's kinda hokey

In the interest of accuracy, I previously said '04-08 F150, no. But I've since learned to do it with FORscan in these models.

Not critical, but I wanted to correct that.

We survived without TPMS much like we somehow miraculously survived without antibacterial soap.

By now we should have all died from blown tires or germs. The #1 cause of dying is first being alive. But at least we can entertain ourselves with fear. Lots of fear. That's fun.
