Yeah, T-IV ATF is OK for your P/S unit but as you know, any cheap DEXIII will work just fine.

Do you have T-IV just hanging around and just want to use it in the P/S unit? What I mean is, you aren't going out just to buy T-IV for the P/S unit are you?

I'd be mixing the DEXIII & T4 with reservoir flushes..no prob there I'd hope.

I would only use it if the manual says so. Dexron and ATF4 are not the same.Follow the manual, not all the opinions you are about to read.

Using Type T-IV ATF in the AT and Dexron II / III in the PS has always seemed weird to me too. There can't be that much difference between those ATFs to make any difference in a power steering system. My guess is the supplier of the PS reservoirs had a large supply of filler caps showing to use Dex II / III and didn't want to change. The Toyota shop manuals are a study in weirdness. Where else can you see a valve keeper listed as a "rock?" I guess the person writing the manual couldn't pronounce" lock". And what about "cooler" for compressor?

I have been using left over T-IV in Toyotas since the WS fluid came out and I had 8 quarts of T-IV on the shelf. Both of my Toyota dealers do the same. So I have used it in 2 ES350s a 4Runner and an Avalon. No problems so far.
