Toyota Transmission Class Action Lawsuit

Does that guy seem condescending to you? He does to me.
He doesn’t come across that way to me. Trying to remove bias, educating a wide range of DIYers, which I genuinely believe he supports, isn’t an easy task. Do I think he’s a solid Toyota tech? Absolutely. It’s all he does, and quite frankly, if you work on one brand for 20+ years at his level, you better be good at it.

I only watch him for the prayer at the end. 🫣

This is why I’m changing the transmission fluid in my Camry every 20k-30k miles.

Because it’s been proven that a lack of “spill and fills” or a complete fluid exchange directly contributes to the transmission failing?

I believe it’s more likely a poor design to begin with.

As in “……….plaintiffs have noticed early upshifts due to faulty software and defective torque converters……..”

Yes it would be helpful to know what the failure modes are.

I own one. I haven't heard of a bunch of issues. @AutoMechanic you guys seeing a bunch of failures on these 8 speeds?

It is a tiny transmission. I can definitely see it being a bigger issue in a large vehicle vs a Camry / Rav4?

Its in a lot more than Toyota's also.
See them quite often. Especially common in the Highlanders. Have seen it in a few RAV4 as well. Haven’t personally seen one in a Camry yet.

No, I’ve read that the design contributes to high fluid temps which degrades the fluid faster. So changing it early makes sense. Can’t hurt.
