If I want to buy Toyota Tech Stream software with all the necessary hardware, what do you recommend?

I've personally used the Mongoose cable and a Windows laptop to run Techstream. I was able to successfully retrieve the data I was after, but haven't attempted to modify anything on a vehicle (clear codes, change settings, etc.).

The Bosch CDR 900 allegedly works as a vehicle interface as well, but isn't recommended/supported. I still need to test that.

This is the method I used as well.
For the cable, I was able to source a cheap one online for like 25 bucks. The software (latest versions of Techstream) are available on any torrent search web site and works for all Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicle, basically giving the user the same level of diagnosing and customization that's offered from the dealership).

For the pittance spent on the initial investment ($100 for the used laptop and 25 for the cable), it was well worth not having the hassle of the dealership service experience.

Can you tell me where you purchased your cable from or any more specifics?

Thank you,
Ed

I had Techstream working on an older Windows laptop.
Tried to buy/download (Amazon/FleaBay) the software but it did not play nicely with new
laptop and 10 Pro. It produced an array of malware warnings through Windows security.
The Mini VCI J2534 cables are readily available.
