Toyota T-IV

People will tell you Transmax Import, or Maxlife will work. But the shift quality will suffer after a while.

Your local toyota dealer should have T-IV fluid in stock. You can also buy Mobil 3309 fluid (identical to T-IV) on Amazon.

Mag 1 fluid is NOT a replacement. Stop spreading this. Your dealer is worse than your posts.

Use Valvoline Maxlife. You can get a jug at walmart. I have used it in hundreds of Toyotas and never had a issue with it.

Amazing assertion when the application isn't even known.

Maybe the OP can elaborate.

I've used maxlife in my friends tundra (specs DexIII) and it has been in there years.

If you're a stickler for real T-IV, Napa has it in Aisin branded T-IV quarts as well.

FWIW I don't use real T-IV on my ES300 and have had no problems. Aside from Transmax and Castrol at Walmart, the cheapest I'd recommend would be the Pennzoil Multivehicle for under $4 per quart picked up instore at Pep Boys.

There's also Valvoline Multi Vehicle Import which is closer to the Toyota T-IV/ Mobil 3309 viscosity.

Not sure on the Walmart availability though.

I have used Maxlife ATF for years on my 99 toyota corolla and 98 toyota avalon. Many BITOGers use Maxlife in their toyota auto trans and they only have good things to say. Use it with confidence.

What makes them better than T-IV?

To firefinder:

Go to www.amaliestore.com and look up "Wolf's Head Super Universal Synthetic Transmission Fluid" and buy a case.

You'll see there's a generous "free shipping" threshold which is real, real easy to reach.

I recommend calling your order in so you can ask the operator to "plastic wrap" your cases. They are perforated to aid in the construction of store displays and can rip in transit. They gladly do that for you.

You won't go back to anything else nor will you need to.

I've used this product in Toyotas, Volvos and Saabs all with Aisin-Warner transmissions requiring 3309, T-IV fluid.

Obey me and save money and headaches.

The Valvoline product is their Dex/Merc LV. The others are NOT what you want.

My maternal grandfather was from Kentucky and I wouldn't steer you wrong. Kira

He specced type T-IV fluid ya dummy. I've serviced more T-IV fluid trannies than you have brain cells.

That is not the application; that is the fluid.

If you spend some time reading other threads you will see that very few people think the Toyota fluid is that good of a fluid

The feel, how well its holds up, less bucking when full throttle.

Maxlife is the best I have tried ever in the price point that everyone can afford

PENNZOIL SYNTHETIC MULTI-VEHICLE ATF (non-lv version) is very good, if you can find it. Its 7.2 cst is the same as 3309 (T-IV).

If you had a clue you would know that it isn't my dealership.

T-IV isn't anything special. My Equinox has the 5 speed AW-55 which requires T-IV and I have been using maxlife and a bottle of LGR for over 10 years now with zero issues.

Amazing how many opinions on this. Well here comes another. JASO 1-A03 approval is a very good indicator if the fluid will work in Toyota T-IV. This is a fluid similar to long service lfe DEXRON III and testing is available. Watch out for claims such as suitable for use or our cousin Larry used this without any problems. Approved JASO is a good sign. Also there are at least two JASO approvals, 1-A is better than 2-A. Any fluid with MERCON/DEXRON/JASO 1-A03 APPROVALS will be a good substitute. (Since MERCON and DEXRON III are no longer licensable, I would trust most major brands.)

The new brew Maxlife is closer to DexVI which is closer to T-IV. I used that on my old Camry. was fine. You could always splash some lubegard in there if you're nervous about it, but I ran Maxlife for 0ver 30k, was all good
