toyota stout

Typical Scotty click bait.
You are not going to be able to buy one for anywhere close to $20k any more than you can buy a Maverick for $23k. I predict that it will be closer to a $30k and up vehicle (I hesitate to call it a truck because it really isn't one), IF Toyota decides to manufacture them. Furthermore, it isn't going to kill the Maverick.

How is that become Scotty's fault? It is the fault of the stealership for selling it higher. LOL.
That has been the stealership trick forever.

"Toyota's New $20,000 Truck Just Killed the Ford Maverick"
If that isn't a click bait title, I don't know what is. Toyota hasn't even decided to build them yet, nobody knows what they are going to sell for if they do, and it certainly isn't going to kill the Maverick. The dealers can be blamed for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them

Some is the stealership with their market adders, but also the OEM's are not building the base trim anymore. Honda outright said so in a investor letter, and most other OEM's are doing it also. Why would they - people will pay for the high trim - so more margin per vehicle for them.
