Attached is an image of a Lexus A650E transmission from a 2000 GS300. Can anyone here tell me which line is the outlet running to the cooler and which is the inlet from the cooler? I would assume that the outlet is the plug closest to the torque converter, but I'm looking for some verification on this.

I'm not familiar with this transmission but usually you can determine which is which by looking at the cooler. Find the two lines on the cooler. Usually, the return line is the lower line. Then you can double check by disconnecting it and see if fluid comes out from the end that it should - the cooler side. If it's coming from the other side - the transmission side, it's got to be the other hose.

You can probably find a labeled diagram of the transmission/cooler assembly at www.toyotapartszone.com.

After a drive that's long enough to get the ATF hot, you may be able to identify the return line by touch...it should be considerably cooler than the outlet to the cooler.
