Hi,
Great Forum. I have a '99 4Runner that just split an inner boot. I changed it (actually both inner and outer boots) but the large OEM clamp on the inner boot didn't work right (translation: I screwed it up). Anyway, I used a regular screw in hose clamp which worked for months. However, I decided to put a narrow hose clamp back on it. That one didn't get tight enough and leaked. I'm not sure how much leaked out so I figure I'll put a few ounces in there and replace the clamp.

My question is, what should I use? Toyota says use moly on the outer cv joint but use a lithium or silicone (I've heard both) and *not* moly on the inner cv joint and they're very particular about using the factory stuff. To get the Toyota factory stuff I'd have to buy the whole kit with both boots. All I really need (I think) is a little grease to put in there. ???
