im sure this has been asked,but... anyone recommend a synthetic blend 5w30 that can handle the 5k intervals in this motor? the castrol gtx 5w30 conventional ive been using seems to be done at 3k.i want to stay within the 5k change for warranty ,or is it worth it to go full synthetic?

Mobil has their Drive Clean Plus Semi-Syn. 5W30 is for cars/trucks with less then 75K and their 10W30 is for 75K+

I have been running Schaeffers 10w30 blend to 6500 miles in my Toyota 3.4, with plenty of TBN left to go even longer. However, all of these results have been with the addition of the A-RX maintenance dose, so I'm not sure what the oil would do without additives.

I am currently waiting on lab results from a 6500 mile Schaeffer's interval using my first experiment with Lube Control instead of A-RX, and can forward the results if you are interested.

Castrol GTX should go 5K in this engine, unless you fall into the severe duty category.

Why go with a blend? If you have the money just go with GC 0W30 or Mobil 1 5W30, which will go 5K no problem. You could go up to 10K with a used oil analysis.

glad to hear 5k w/gtx. my driving is mainly stop n go. work is only 8 min away.only drive farther on weekends.truck only has 11k miles on it.i just have to get over the "3k then change" brain washing.

If you have a lot of stop and go driving and short trips, you may want to run an analysis at 5K to see how this OCI will work for you.
