Well folks, this is my Super Bowl, Daytona 500, World Series rapped up in 3 weeks of bicycle riding. I'm so excited as the race starts tomorrow.

For those that care you can follow the race on OLN TV http://ww2.olntv.com/cyclysm/jump.html

For those that don't follow this, Lance Armstrong (a cancer survivor) is battling for his 6th straight win. Which would be a record as it't never be one 6 times by any one person. Let alone the 6th in a row. It has been won 5 times by 3-4 others.

Here is the official Le Tour site: http://www.letour.fr/

It should be an awesome race this year, with some really strong riders trying to take Lance down. Though I hope he does it again for the 6th time.

He is an amazing guy. I rode a measly 20 miles into to work on my bike this morning. I thought it was pretty far, but it's nothing compared to what those guys do.

I'm with you on the Tour de France. I have been following it every year for at least 25 years. There have been some great champions but Lance is right there with the best of them.
It will be tough on him this year, everyone will be gunning for him.
I believe since his divorce he has been dating Sheryl Crow. Her website supports his cancer foundation.

Yea he is an amazing guy even with all the blood doping he does. Even with all of that its awsome.

I have little respect for him though..when he had cancer he starts making babies and then splits. His first wife went thru a lot with his cancer and all. But what else is new. He's just a skum bag to me.

Al,

How do you know he is on drugs or ditched his wife?

I hope Lance wins and speaks english only on the victory stand. He has been pretty vocal about his low opinion of the french. (no wonder I like him)

Sheryl Crow is no upgrade. His wife was better looking.

Well-he had a mistress when he was away on tours. No one "knows" if he is doping and neither do I "know" - just an opinion.

Like I said-I just don't like him.

Sorry Al but ... I hate when people are judgmental on these matters. I have a friend whose *wife* walked out on him - and with 3 kids. Knowing the guy, *and* knowing the other guy ... **** happens. Hey I have 3 step kids. They have a good life I think.

Doping? C'mon - with the drug testing they do - puh-lease! Maybe in the early days when it was less regulated. But when they brought that crap up at the new conference for Discovery Channel sponsorship, I thought Lance handled it as a class act. That these allegation were addressed in '99 and again in '02.

So in my opinion, he seems decent enough - maybe too dedicated to his sport. But compare him to basketball or baseball stars who have gotten into trouble (can you say Kobe?).

So as far as making babies and running out. Shaquille O'Neil has kids. Julius Erving has kids. Henry Bibby has kids (Mike Bibby won't acknowledge him). I hardly think Armstrong is at the level you describe him.

So, without hearing both sides, I would hesitate to call people names that you use.

I know exactly how you feel. This is the only race (in the only sport) I follow.

Where are you getting your information from? The Weekly World News?? (reality alert for you: those stories are made-up!)

As Lance said during a pre-race interview, "Extraordinary accusations must be followed with extraordinary proof ..."

Sure, it's easy to be a target when you're head-&-shoulders above the crowd. But I think you're confusing a true athlete with any modern-day "sports role model" who's hideously overpaid to prance around like some kind of dada-istic phallus. How many of your "sports heros" would give up a berth in the Olympics because they'd rather be with their kids?

You can't even begin to fathom what kind of pain he's gone thru to get to this amazing point in his life.
