Recently, I spilled coffee all over my Lenovo laptop. It is a Lenovo, Japanese made unit, and it is randomly entering\ \\\\\\\\\\ marks. Th\inking\ on a panasonic toug\h\\\\\book.

I do not g\ame or oth\er. surf web, look up stuff, arg\ue with\ folks on BITOG|\\\\\.

Anyth\oug\h\ts.

H|opefully th\is clears up to some wh\y my replys h\ave \\\\\marks. Tired of deleting\ th\em.

Lenovo consumer grade stuff, the keyboard might be part of the entire upper assembly. If it's a thinkpad you can probably swap it out in under 10 minutes. Get one on eBay for cheap.

Toughbooks are cool but typically you pay a massive premium, even used, and then end up with a heavy, chunky laptop with a screen that has lousy color accuracy and resolution (although they have great brightness or use outdoors). If you get the one that's got a completely weatherproof keyboard, it's going to suck to type on.

Automotive Repair shops, Both Dealer & Independents use them a lot, About the only laptop you can drop & not break something.

I use a HP Pavilion when I need a laptop, But I won't let others use it & I have to be careful myself.....No drinks near it, And minimizing the chances of it hitting the concrete!

Most of the repair shops I ever go into use cheap consumer grade laptops or mid-tier business grade laptops. Toughbooks, Getac, etc. are few and far between around here.

The "\" key is sticking and/or making contact. I'd pop it off, suction/clean/lubricate and see if it makes a difference.

New keyboard would be the next step.
