Does anyone know of a source for torpedo heater fuel caps that aren't junk?
They all seem to have the same plastic fuel cap that with metal cross bar, after a year or 2 the plastic swells up, it deforms so it doesn't seal, the metal cross bar holes deform and the crossbar tries to fall out after it's removed and to remove it the cap has to be pried off with a screwdriver or something.
The only replacements I can find are identical to what failed after a year or 2.

Its a cap for 2 and 3/16 inch opening.
Found on DeWalt, Remington, Mr heater, master and many more.
Tends to look exactly like this.

That's the smaller 1 and 3/8 cap. One that's like that with metal parts would work if it were larger. No doubt that design would be an improvement over the 99% plastic ones.
There's a billion different metal caps like that on Amazon, there's probably one that would work. Is there a tractor parts supply place near you? A lot of them seemed to be listed for tractors, but few had measurements listed or shown on Amazon. Will possibly require much trial and error. Only you know if that investment is worth it to you, but good luck, either way!
