True. I only mentioned the NHL to counter the mocking of the MLB Championship being called the 'World Series.' Because people think this is America declaring themselves as 'the World.' But the best in the World do come to play in the league. If you play baseball in Iceland, your dream is to play in the World Series, and if you're good enough you can. The NHL is just another good example. And yes, the Super Bowl is the world chamionship of 'American Football.'
The "world" Series is more of a "class" than rather a "claim"
The World Series is "World Class" the highest one can go in a SPORT. Sports are ran by sanctioning bodies, the bigger the body, the greater the sponsorship and prestige.
Nobody in the U.S. of America is claiming the top Soccer event, the "World Cup" but we have no problem taking out the scumbags at FIFA. Only if the "world" could be trusted to fairly run a sport! America does not have much of this problem(NASCAR you idiots)
