ok time for an update. after work yesterday I decided to make another attempt to get this Toro running. first thing I noticed was no gas in the tank. looked for a leak and did not see any. there was gas in the carb so I unhooked the hose from the inlet side of the carb and did find a small hole in the line. I cut the bad piece off and reconnected it. figured while I had the tank empty I would add some kreen to tank ( not too much ) and added a gallon of gas. did not see any leaks so I fired it up on the first pull , awesome ! then reality set in after 5 seconds and it died again lol ! tried to get it started two more times and said , the heck with this. drained the bowl of gas, there was more in there then ever. took the carb off and ran some kreen through it and made sure I can run a small wire through the jets and inlet line. the kreen was run through every hole and came out with ease. took the float and pin out of the socket. cleaned the socket with a Qtip and Kreen ( was not very dirty) soaked the pin in kreen and wiped it off with a rag. wiped the float down even though it was a bright white plastic color. put the float back in and worked it back and forth and it moved with ease. put everything back together and cleaned the spark plug up ( even though it was not that dirty ( only has run 3 times for an hour each time ) primed it up and guess what? it would not start. after many attempts I decided that maybe the residual kreen was preventing it from starting. sprayed a couple of short blasts of starting fluid and it kicked right over. stalled again after 5 seconds of running. what now, get a carb rebuild kit, soak the carb overnight ? there seems to be a good amount of fuel going from the tank through the fuel filter to the carb. could it be the fuel is not getting past the bowl maybe , does that make sense ? my brother says I have the patience of a rock but I am running out of ideas. hate to take it anywhere as they charge and arm and a leg to fix it and to be honest if this unit keeps breaking why keep putting money into it. sad thing is I bought his new and only used it 3 times in 1 year.
