All the talk of snowblowers and folks saying to go with a an Ariens or Toro. I started looking on my local Kijiji at an Ariens. Few ads, on was a 28 Inch but the guy responded after I bought this Toro. His price was $350 cdn. Got it for $300. Other guys with Toros wanted $450 for one in better condition but it has an 8hp motor. There was a guy closer to me with a one year old Toro but he wanted $700 (says he paid over $1200 last year at HD). This one's got a 10 HP Tecumseh motor. There was a bit of rust, bit I spent all day today scraping it and painting it with printer and spray can tremclad. Wasn't the exact same match color wise, but it's good enough for me.

I just need to pickup some new bolts to get it all buttoned up Later this week.

Posted my craftsman tonight, so hopefully that's gone soon.

I wanted to take the auger our and paint that black, but was having some issues and couldn't find any good videos for the exact same model on YouTube, so I decided to just paint it all red. Works for me.

you might want to do the rubber on impeller mod done right its pretty amazing.
Yeah I did that on my craftsman, works awesome. The auger back part of the auger is designed differently it has a bar welded on it (guess to make it stronger, so I'll have to see if I can screw the rubber to the back of those blades. Not sure if you can see it on any of the pics. Probably easier to do since I have the chute and everything apart right now.

Just remember to have plenty of the proper sized shear bolts on hand. Nothing worse than not being able to use a snowblower due to not having shear bolts on hand.

I have a toro 826 le as well, similar year to yours. I've had it for 8 years now and bought from the original owner. Its a little cold blooded but fires right up with the electric start. It can move some serious snow. I was always under the impression that these 826 had the 8hp HMSK80 tecumseh? was yours a repower?

That's what the previous owner said. He only had the unit a year or so. There is a sticker from Sears and Roebuck, but I didn't look for any stamps for the engine code. I guess I should look it up.

I just went and took a pic of the tag. It's 358cc which a quick Google search says its 11hp.

Definitely a repower and that thing should be unstoppable with 11hp behind it. I can clear 18" of heavy snow in 1st without any issues and thats only 8hp. 8" or less of normal snow, i can go as fast as I want, typically I never go past 3 as that thing is a beast and moves fast.
