This is what the high pressure tube segment looked like when I took it apart last time. Perhaps there was a leak in it, and it was not just the seal.

True enough. I reference high side and low side to the ports, high side is red and low side is blue. On this unit the blue hose ( low side hose) hooks up to the port welded to the accumulator. The red hose ( high side hose) is welded to the line upstream of the orifice.
It took the pressure drop at the orifice then enters the evaporator and exits the evaporator to then enter the evaporator dryer/accumulator. I guess I meant the leak is at the entrance to the evaporator, which is upstream of the low side port.

I’ll have to take a close look at the seals. Here are descriptions of an “evaporator tube seal” and a “evaporator tube O ring”.
Hard to beat for the money. I found two leaks with it two years ago in my 88 E-150.
