Top Engine Air Filter...What say you?

The new thing on the Wix filters seems to be a plastic guard in place of the mesh.
I usually buy Wix air filters but the last one I picked up had the plastic grid and loose flashings where the gasket met the plastic. The gasket also seemed thinner than normal which made me wonder if it would maintain the seal for several years of use. Rather than torture myself I just picked up a Microguard and saved a couple bucks.

Wix and microgard done me good. Super tech air filters seem of decent quality also I wouldn't be hesitant on installing one.
Wix & Microgard would both be on my short list for engine air filters - curious if both meet / surpass Hyundai OEM filtering performance with equal or better air flow ?

If Denso air filters are an option (and for my three cars it is), I use Denso. But that is pretty much true for every car part I buy excluding NGK spark plugs.

Late to the party, but currently I appreciate the Carquest Premium and FRAM Titanium for my applications. Have used Wix as well, but the cost is more than double for only a minor return in filtration for my applications. As well, Mann was my choice for European, but they are now off to live other lives with new families. So, I suppose it depends on vehicle application for filter choice. 🤔

I've been using STP (autozone) filters in my Mazdas the past 5 years or so. They were one of the few that made one with the re-enforced frame for the CX5 turbo at a reasonable price. They have fit nice and tight for each application and appeared well built with no sloppy pleats or frame molding overruns (excess material that has to be trimmed off for a good fit), etc. Not sure who makes them for STP but they do come across as decent quality for the price.
