Very funny sarcastic post...but, there is nothing wrong with DexCool. Air is a bad thing in any cooling system, so it's really not a big deal...you bleed the system, and you're good. But, don't believe me, that would take away your fun in hating American cars.

You are from Boulder. You have to act like that

I, along with the 12 million others who seem to not have any problems with DexCool, must be the lucky ones. We are the exception. DexCool sucks. GM blows. Everything American sucks. The only things that are good in the world, come from other countries, and are developed by a people with different cultures than our obviously flawed one. We should all, in fact, move to another country and abandon this one.

I will come to ZGRider's defence even though we differ on Dexcool.

Nothing in his posts have ever struck me as anti-American, just anti-Dexcool. You are attributing a bias where it does not exist.

If there were real evidence that dex cool is so terrible. Why on earth would GM put $40 worth of problematic coolant into their cars only to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in man-hours for warranty repairs.

I am the original owner of my truck my pickup has never overheated. I began diagnosing the problem as soon as I noticed a coolant leak. First thing I did was check out all the coolant hoses and replace the filler cap on the resovoir. I unbolted the brackets to my alternator and AC and moved them forward after I turned the engine on for 5 minutes and I noticied coolant from the front and back of the intake manifold.

Also I maintained the cooling system with 2 year flushes and refills with dexcool not aware of the dexcool problem. When I removed the gaskets they broke up all around coolant passages in the front left and both the back ones.

Both the gaskets and dexcool are at fault IMO.

I am not saying that it has been improved or not its just something that will happen to some but not all. Even with regular maintenance. My parents silverado 2005 has no problems yet and its at 60k miles. I do plan on putting green coolant in however once the warranty expires. Just as a preventative deal.

Dexcool and GM gaskets are both at fault. And I am in no way bashing USA I am as patriotic as they get. I only own GM cars minus a Jeep. I also do not beleive that ZGR was bashing US either I beleive that comment was unwarranted. Dexcool does have its problems even in maintained cooling systems.

If you decide to keep dexcool it is your car, but be aware to keep an eye on any coolant leaks!
