This, I am sick to death of INCONSIDERATE, THOUGHTLESS co-irkers
that will come to work come [censored] or high water with SERIOUS infectious viruses, like the flu, and proceed to act as if there is nothing wrong with it. Same idiots that will walk over and continue to interact with you coughing, and sneezing at the same time.

Good grief I despise these types!

If one has a MINOR head cold and is thoughtful enough to keep to themselves and cover their mouth when coughing and sneezing that is REASONABLE.

If I cannot work safely, I do not come in. If my back is bad enough I know it will either lock up completely on me or spasm badly enough I might wreck my truck, I won't come in. Otherwise...I'm there.

I won;t go that far...but I DO get paid for unused sick time.

I work for myself because I have a lot of health problems - surely I would get fired if I called in sick as much as I need to. If I'm sick I don't work, it's that simple. No sense in doing a bad job all day only to spread your illness and get sicker in the process.

If my partner shows up to work with any kind of spreadable illness, you can bet he's going to get screamed at.

I used to "tough it out" when moderately sick and come in to work.

Last year, I was horribly ill, and yet my boss insisted I come into work. Almost crashed on the drive in. I had no idea what I was doing while at work. I went home, sicker than ever. At least I had enough sense to NOT TOUCH AN AIRPLANE, while at work.

The heck with idiot management. Just say no. That's what sick days are for.

I will NEVER, EVER do that again.

Yah, I struggled for a week with a chest cold, by Wed, I was feverish, by Friday , I went home early. Sat, I went to the emergency room and was admitted with pneumonia. I missed a month of work. I don't fool around anymore. I get a flu shot and don't mess with fevers.

Ditto! Flu shots make me sicker than the flu.

When I was in the Navy, there was no such thing as a sick day when you were on the Sub...Man I tell you what, now that I am out, it is nice to take a sick day if you just don't feel well. Sucks getting everyone else sick.

With the employers I've had, they figure if you're well enough to pick up the phone and call in, you're well enough to come to work. It's nice if you have somebody to call in for you.

However, last Wednesday I more or less had no choice, as I woke up at 3 in the morning, and lets just say things weren't well. By the time I could call in around 10 I had thrown up 7 times, and almost passing out every time I stood up. I'm over that, but I'm still feeling the cold part of it today but not near bad enough to take off this afternoon (too bad) Anyway, where do you guys draw the line before you take the day off?

I guess I am lucky in that I have a work laptop that I use at home or work. If I am sick I just work from home unless I was down and out with the flu and then I would just stay in bed. I can do everything I need to do with my laptop at home or at work, no difference.

My last employer would pay a bonus of $1200 to people who didn't take sick days/personal carer's leave for more than 5 or 6 days...was in response to some blocks of staff who were averaging 11 or 12 sick days...

As a result, 25 years in the industry, I've got more than a year's sick leave accrued, which is an amazing insurance policy of you come down with the big C or somesuch.

That's stupid! So if you're too sick to call, then you're a "no call, no show"? I'm glad I never worked for employers like that... Now that I'm on my own, I don't have to worry at all about it.

Called in sick today. Felt dizzy when I walked with flu like symptoms. It was my first time calling in and I could tell she still wanted me to come in, but this job is at a grocery store. And the customers shouldn't have to be around me.
