So a while back I bought some Valvoline Synpower Oil treatment, the stuff with boatloads of Moly.

More recently, I took advantage of a sale at Pep Boys to pick up a case of Formula Shell 5w30 oil.

So I decided to beef it up at the ratio of one ounce per quart as recommended by Molakule.

So while I was draining things, I put the silver Synpower bottle on the engine to warm it up. Once I was ready, I put a couple of quarts of oil in first, and then started pouring in some synpower. I stopped a couple times to look at the scale on the side of the bottle and see how much I had put in.

Well, I went too far. Ended up with 9 ounces in the engine. The oil capacity is 6.5 quarts.

What will be the results of this? I often have Terry do analysis, so I will for sure pull this and have him look at it when the time comes.

Vehicle is 2004 Nissan Titan, 5.6 liter DOHC V8 305HP/379lb-ft. 8023 miles at oil change, 4th change overall (intervals of 1000, 600, 2900 and 3400 give or take a few miles)

I think you have just turned your engine into Milton the Monster. "Ooops too much!"

I have poured too much Synpower the same way. Next time pour half a quart of oil in the engine, then add the synpower to the half quart bottle and use the scale on the side of the oil bottle for a guide.

As for too much, well Valvoline says to add the whole bottle, so you should be fine, but it is partly VII and so you are stretching the 5w30 to a 5w(thicker30). In that respect I prefer adding it to a 10w30, but you should be fine.

If you do have Terry look at it, we all will be interested in the results.
