To DRL or not to DRL...

2005 Pontiac G6
DRL disabled, Auto Lights disabled -actually, severely desensitized so they only activate at DUSK. I did this primarily out of concern for the GM alternator.

The G6 uses the low-beam bulbs as DRLs (and the bulbs are expensive), when they SHOULD use the high beams to even bulb wear.

Basically, I said "nope" to always burning out low beam bulbs and alternators.

I like DRLs. In fact I won't buy a vehicle without them. (Sorry Ford.) They allow you to see an oncoming vehicle in the fog/dusk/rain much easier. But if I didn't have them I would just drive with my headlights on.

I also think it is hilarious that they irritate so many people.

I mean really if DRL's irritate you...then you need to get a life.

I don't understand why we even have light switches in cars. Too many morons driving around without them on when they should be.

There's a reason why more and more cars are coming with automatic headlights. Folks are too busy texting or searching for sushi (like a recent Toyota ad stated) to be bothered to turn on the headlights when it's dark out.

My Ford dealer, using the shop computer, easily turned on the DRLs option on my '10 Fusion.
