To Bidet or not Bidet, that is the question....

We did not purchase one with a seat. We already had soft close seats and the design of the toilet itself is only 12 inches across the back. Until I found this unit I was looking for one with the seat and seemed hit or miss whether it would appeal to me. We would have lost that "clean" simple look.

Not interested in replacing toilets. Really happy with these. Another thing, these toilets, builder installed no less are amazing in the way they flush. They sound as efficient as the TOTO people talk about, barely use any water and never clog, one flush and everything gone too. I guess technology (and the Chinese) perfected certain toilets at prices a builder would pay ;) After all, copy design and set a ceramic mold I guess. Last house, bought new, 16 years ago also had low flow toilets but they were not very good and I replaced them. These are a whole new ballgame.

I (think) they all have to work at .9 and 1.28 and carry something like 99% away.
It's pretty amazing how far we've come on this and how hard it actually is to make a porcelain toilet - it's a major deal.

Luxe Neo 185 Plus
Yes, if I was to ever have a different model that was my top choice but I wanted to try something right away. If the one I bought in Lowes didnt work out I knew I could return it and order the Luxe. Certainly a nice unit, I like the controls as well. I think I remember if ordering it, you had a choice of Chrome, White or Gold knobs, wife settled on the Chrome but then I found the Brondell in Lowes.
All is good, my only regret is I didnt do this decades ago.

The other thing that greats- especially as I get older - is that the newer toilets are usually a bit taller easing the on and off markedly.

Out last house I replaced all of them with Chair height.

Just one last hooray to the OP for posting on this. Because of this as I posted in here we also purchased one (wife always wanted one)
I have to say this is one item that the USA is far behind (no pun intended) then the rest of the civilized world. Bidets very common overseas and almost makes us in the USA, in my eyes, look WAY behind in the times. I cant believe the difference in cleanliness and went most my whole life without one.

So impressed I picked up a second one that I am installing in the main bath. The one @ZZman is a great choice I would think, as well as the one I previously posted on in post #51 available in Lowes. Gentleman working in Lowes did say they are catching on and starting to sell. USA about 40 or more years behind the times.

Please forgive my ignorance in such matters as I'm an old paper wiper from way back (no pun intended).

Doesn't a fella make a wet mess of their undercarriage and jiggly bits hosing themselves down with one of these? What are you using to dry off with afterwards. The fancy hand towels? I feel like I might need a beach towel until I got a system down.

Yes, it gets a little wet. Usually pat dry with some folded up toilet paper

Sure. Use a towel. Some even use some sort of soap or body wash.

An alternative is wipes. I guess some will use TP first, then follow up as a finishing touch. I guess it sounds nasty, but it would just go in the trash.

I wondered the same thing, I speak for the one I installed in post #51 but I am sure they are all the same.
The precision of the water spray hits exactly at the right spot. Nothing else gets wet *LOL*
To dry which isnt all that much to dry except that "spot" is just a smaller to small piece of toilet paper. I used to "burn" through a lot of paper. No more! ;)

Being the alarmguy, somehow I'm not surprised your water jet hits you right in the bullseye clean as a whistle, and no surrounding area gets wet. Probably at a 20% discount too.

I'm joking! I do appreciate the info on this unusual topic.
