My 2003 PT Cruiser just hit the 35K mark and runs great. I've been using LC and FP since early on along with Schaeffer's blend 5W30 and 10W30 oil with approx. 4k OCI's. I'm about due for another oil change and am wondering if I should consider an Auto RX treatment at this point or just continue my "regimen". Any advice, guys?

I am not sure why you posted if you have any concerns what are they ? all I can say (based on your post) is Auto-Rx cleans your ring packs while you drive. That means better compression-improved combustion, if that is important than clean your engine. By the way Schaeffers Oil is good. If you want to document your current performance and switch to Auto-Rx and do the same I will send you product at N/C and would encourage you to post your comments.

Gee Frank, I'm trying to see what I did wrong here other than ask whether it's advisable to perform an Auto-RX on a well cared for vehicle. I've used the product several times in older vehicles and referred it to several friends who used it with good results (most recently my brother's '88 Chevy pickup). I sure didn't expect to be questioned as to why I should've posted this question...I think it was a reasonable inquiry and didn't deserve that response particularly considering my support of the product in the first place.

If in doubt, auto-rx. I even did a Toyota Matrix that I previously owned at 10k miles. There's nothing but good that can come from an Auto-RX cleaning!

Sorry, Frank...should've slept in today. I'm pretty much sold on the Auto-RX and Matt is right. Even on a well cared for vehicle, nothing but good can come from a good Auto-RX cleaning...will be placing an order for a couple of bottles (my '92 Olds Regency w/3.8l engine was Auto-RXed about 30k miles ago...with just under 100k on the odometer it uses absolutely no oil between 4k changes with Schaeffers). Thanks for putting up with the cranky old geezer here...been enjoying this site for several years.

I read the post that you had concerns about benefits your getting from your current regimen nothing else was inferred.Thats why i made the offer to you.I would never question why somebody posted anything.
Sorry you took it that way.

Sounds like you have had a good oil change regimen, and you do know the car's history.

I think that for this vehicle,an ARX maintenance dose would be best. But cleaning with a full treatment isn never a bad idea. its a low mileage vehicle though...

Perhaps Frank can comment on the efficacy of arx with synthetic blends, like schaeffers, especially in maintenance dose.

with such low miles and 4k OCIs with a syn blend and you're thinking of ARX? I have 177k miles, the last 96k with M1 and I don't feel that ARX would help my car out enough to warrant buying it and it has 5 times the mileage of your PT.

BUT, if it lets you sleep at night, it may be worth the $$

Deposits don't form overnight. A good cleaning is never a bad idea. Besides if there is contaminants left behind in an oil change out, then the detergent package of the fresh oil is somewhat consumed from past sin, and may not be in good stead for the current oil change life.
