TN Flygirl Final Accident Report

I believe she was in denial about her ability to fly safely.....not her prescription drug use...there was no denying that.
Only she knows the answer but I have seen , and flown with , weak and I can’t figure them out except that they shouldn’t be flying and I doubt anyone was honest enough to tell them they are not suited for flying before they got that far.

I used to be a flight instructor and told a few that it’s not working out.

Keep in mind that the type of drugs she was on (benzodiazepines - XANAX, etc) have the side effect (or desired effect, maybe) of lowering inhibitions.

Making you just not give a flip about anything, and increasing the chances you’ll do things you ordinarily would never do.

In other words, they profoundly affect judgment. 😳

True.

She may have even been on them while training for her PPL.

We don’t why she was taking them but if it was for depression, it just goes to show that you can seem to have it all and yet struggle with unhappiness and I don’t mean that in a judgemental way. People are not always as they appear.

Even airline pilots can have mental health issues but don’t try to hide it and get help.
