TN Flygirl Final Accident Report

Even though most of those meds are forbidden by FAA regs...I still think the main cause of the accident was her poor airmanship...& it wasn't getting any better....just more challenged...by a faster plane. The drugs were a background contributing factor...it's possible she had been taking them long term and they had little or no impact on her daily functions. I bet a significant percentage of folks we share the road with daily have similar meds going through their veins.

Pretty certain that the ethanol impaired her performance. Good bet that the others did, as well.

Anything that says “avoid operating machinery“ in the side effects something you shouldn’t be taking when you’re flying an airplane.

Ethanol? how much was found?

The FAA toxicology report shown by Juan Browne indicated no Ethanol was found in the samples.

Or motion sickness.

But she had an image she had to maintain.
The picture painted in my mind, based on the med list, is that this person suffered from severe anxiety and likely a panic disorder. Anxiety can also cause nausea and increased gastric secretions, which can occur when cortisol levels are increased due to the chronic state of anxiety/stress. Therefore, the Zofran (ondansetron) isn’t surprising in the least. Seeing this combo of meds isn’t alarming in the treatment sense. I mean, I personally wouldn’t want to be on a bunch of those meds, but I’m just trying to explain this in simple terms.

A really sad outcome, but one not unknown among GA pilots.
New pilots with plenty of money to spend often buy more plane than they can handle. I wonder whether she might have been better off with a C172?
If the aircraft was actually a Debonair and not a Bonanza, then it was much older than her and probably her father. although the airframe doesn't appear to have been a factor in this accident.
OTOH, one does read about some really bad old aircraft that look really good in AOPA's mag, so who knows?

Unfortunately she made multiple bad decisions and mistakes getting herself and father killed.

There was a jerk YouTuber that bailed out of perfectly good aircraft claiming to have engine failure and filmed it as he parachuted to safety. This idiot should have gotten 20 years in prison for his actions but got a very light sentence.

Entitlement at its finest.

The second video is most disturbing. She has ZERO sense of direction. She probably doesn't even know the sun rises in the east. She's the type who would drive the wrong way on an interstate.

Scott
One of YT videos I saw after her crash was that she had a difficult time driving and navigating at the same time.

Unaware or maybe in denial.
All pilots have to obtain, and maintain a medical. All pilots know you have to disclose medical conditions/symptoms to your aviation medical examiner. All pilots know you can’t fly with certain conditions, or take certain medications while flying.

She knew ( aware, not in denial ) that and that’s why she kept it a secret ( IMHO for any lawyers ).

That kind of person should not be a pilot.

For the flying part, I have seen weak pilots who truly don’t know how weak they are.

I read she lacked confidence but someone with low confidence wouldn’t go buy a high performance aircraft IMHO and it makes me think she didn’t understand her limitations.

I read about an F4 Phantom for sale ( BITOG ) but I wouldn’t have the confidence to buy and fly it even if I paid for a thorough checkout because it’s beyond my capabilities given my background.

If she had been an ugly, bald, fat guy with BO, and flown like that, I wonder if all the instructors involved would have been a bit more critical of the lack of skill, and overall crappy performance and airmanship that existed?
Well, she probably would not have had the YouTube channel and she would not have been motivated to keep flying despite her obvious inadequacies

I believe she was in denial about her ability to fly safely.....not her prescription drug use...there was no denying that.
