Tire suggestions, size 255/35/19 ?

Looking at tires for an Audi S4 currently with oe. These are for a family member, two tires specifically noted were the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and Hancook Ventus V12. Open to information about either of those or other recommendations. Snow not a major consideration as they will be driven mostly in Ga. and the southeast.

Normally have a good idea about options but as this is not my vehicle, out of my comfort zone with this so thought I'd ask the sages here.

Heard lots of good feedback re: Michelin PSS, so that's what I'd go with. It's probably the only max perf summer tire with treadlife warranty, too.

Have the michelin PSS in 2254018 on a mazdaspeed3. They are awesome for outright grip and tread wear(so far). They even helped with torque steer and wheelspin.

Don't know about the Hankooks. I don't think they have a tread wear warranty. But they are probably much less
expensive.

I believe you get what you pay for and a car like the S4 would call for the the best.

Look at Tires Easy or Tire Rack.

Watch the treadwear rating CAREFULLY, some are below 200..

I saw several 540-580 A A tires for around $200...

High treadwear rating often comes at the expense of less grip, so it could be good or bad, depending on what one's priorities are. If he's looking for a performance summer tire, then treadlife is probably not overly high on his list, but certainly nice to have. With that said, I am not aware of any high performance summer tires that last very long.

Unless the driver actually needs a summer tire and plans to switch for the winter season (even in Georgia), a high performance all season like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS would probably be ideal.

I know of two people that ended up with that tire and are very happy with it.

As I said not my car, haven't driven it though have ridden in it. As for tire performance category, all I can say is the current oe is Max Performance Summer. And, I know that in the snow mess in Atlanta last year other than the traffic he had no difficulty getting around the with the quattro. Mentioned driving around other stuck vehicles. And it was mentioned that a similar type tire would be preferred.

Thanks for the suggestions. Seems like the Pilot SS has a solid reputation, and good point about it having a treadlife warranty. That would be worth more.

PSS would be extremely bad in the winter.

I would probably go with the Pilot sport A/S 3

Similar performance to other peoples max performance, but still useable in the winter.. although not good much better than a summer tire.

If they dont want/need a super high performance tire,
Conti DWS are a good all weather option, but will not corner like a max performance summer tire.

I dont live in Georgia, but I do have an awd car and
it wont help you if you turn or stop.

If I lived in Atlanta area, I think I'd just wait out any sort of snow/ice storm at home, regardless what tires I had on my car. Looks like most people there completely panic in such situations, so there is a high chance someone would crash into me. Better to just stay off the roads, alas, it's not always possible I guess.

I have PSS.
Just rotated them.
After 17K two have 5/32 two 6/32. Grip like a glue, and very, very structurally capable tire on bad roads.

Agree. Lived in Montgomery, AL. If I saw few flurries I would just stay home. Those drivers are insane.
