Tipping at Fast Food Places

Tips should be tax free. They are what really drives good service, or "above and beyond service". Also, tips should not be tabulated as wage, so that an employer can reduce wages offset by tips.

I tip in cash or not at all.

Yeah, so I can pay with a card that returns 3%, $3 on a $100 ticket. That gets me the tip screen on the monitor. I can click no tip and get my food spit on, or I can give a $15, $20 tip. Or I can hand a $100 bill and take my 17 cents change and be done. I might still get my food spit on but since there wasn't a request for a tip that I denied it's at least less likely. And the $3 back doesn't nearly cover a tip. So cash is still the better option. YMMV
Only issue is if you get held up on the way to the restaurant…

Please start your own thread on this topic. Let's not get political and muddy up this thread.

This topic is related to tipping at fast food places and not on taxes, or any other political issue related to tipping.

Thanks.

I did not bring up the tax thing @Warstud did.

Read your thread, and direct your comments to the culprit, thanks.

Be kind to help.

A woman picked up a $300 order and left no tip for staff where daughter works. She was quite nasty and scowled at them tipping however left tip screen open when she jerk screen back.

Her coworker poked 25% tip…
The place’s around here all charge service fees on orders above $xxx and also on parties of X or greater .

So if you have a big party or a large order it will be unavoidable and right in the bill.

Many local restaurants don’t want to serve large groups at all which seems strange but I did see a “couple” on a date with 3 horrifying kids that threw things at the servers then they just dashed on the three figure bill.

I was thinking they should put a mechanics lean on the car

I got this in today's batch of comics and thought it fit in well here. Illustrates why cash is still king too. Hopefully it is ok to include it for everyone's enjoyment.

I feel kinda terrible.

I did a wheelchair ride for my dad on Tuesday for his broken femur healing first post op X-ray at ortho surgeon (all was well)

The driver, she was excellent. She was a real pro. Everything great. First time I've had serious wheel chair duty. In the hubbub, I forgot to tip her. I should have given her $5-$10 - ride was short.

$20 elcheapo …

Found a fix. Works only at large chain places.

Jersey Mike's was a early adopter of making the consumer make a choice to tip or not. The tip process was a mandatory part of the transaction.

How to stop this...... Huge online campaign that states both the franchise owner AND the corporation must both match the consumer's tip. And no tipping at Jersey Mike's until franchise and the corporation match the consumer tip.

No way will the franchise nor the corporation match the consumer tip. The franchise and corporation will ban tipping, rather than match a consumer tip.

Fast Food/Chain, nope.

There is a family restaurant in town where I will tip even though it's a carry-out order. That's different, IMHO.

How about they just do a good job to start with and it will precipitate a tip from those who tip. Those rhat dont do good go hungry. Easy.

I call this a virtuous transaction.

Many places, like the Dickey BBQ I ate at yesterday, request the tip when ordering, not after the meal is prepared or eaten.
It’s not a tip anymore. It’s an implied service fee. Everyone is shamed into paying it. I try to pay the minimum so as not to get my food spat onto, and eat out at absolute minimum - which is hard when traveling.

If we ever have a recession this will end.

That's because you order at the counter vs a sit down.
