My friend from work- engineer-,he married a gal who was an MD - plastic surgeon- she divorced him!

I have a group of buddies who all married smokeshow younger women as if they played in the NHL. In every case they were divorced and cheated on. It had to have been fun while it lasted I assume. It’s not all bad and not all about the end game. The stories they tell make me think back to just being out of college. Like Bob Seger or a Chevy.

200k is just a number. Just as “millionaire” was when we were in high school. I do feel that as we get older time > money. But as far as $1k/night I wouldn’t spend that if I were a partner making 3 mil before bonus. How much better is it than $250? 4x?
I really didn't want it to sound like a "purchase" or even an expense. My wife and I and adult kids go to Cape May every year for vacation where the rooms are costing about $700 per night. Drives me crazy to even think about it but I keep my mouth shut, go and have a wonderful time, which might be one reason we're married 43 years! I do try to justify it though by thinking about all the other areas where we don't spend foolishly so, if this the one time per year, no big deal. Gotta live a little, or else, what's the point.

If you wan to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. From my personal point of view, get and ugly girl to marry you.....
I was lucky, after about 5 months of deliberately avoiding her, my wife forced herself on me on top of Beacon Rock on the Columbia River on October 31, 1971. My first thought was not very friendly. By the end of the day I knew she was the one for me. She and my older sister went to a Catholic all girls school in Tacoma. I went to the affiliated Catholic all boys school in Tacoma. She was at the top of her class, I was in the middle of mine and was not interested in a boring brainy girl. When God watches over you, and sometimes you pay attention, things work out. No, do not ever say my wife is ugly, but she was definitely plain, except on our wedding day, when she was the prettiest one there.
If I were to ever hurt my wife in any way, most of the people I know would hurt me. Some have told me so.

I know what you're saying, my dad gave me similar advice....the cliche that we always flip for amusement's sake...beauty is skin deep, but ugliness is to the bone!
What probably comes more naturally is people seek those who are similar to themselves, not total opposites. Unless one is very wealthy....
Funny too. A few years ago I came across a pic of some quant club at U Chicago. I cropped it and emailed my buddy--if I were 25 and still in grad school? I'd want to be in this pic and women who are, are super attractive to me (knowing they are braniacs)....
