Timing Chain Cover Leak

I've got a timing chain cover leak on my '03 Mazda MPV; it's got a Ford 3.0L Duratec in it. Given the labor involved, I don't want to replace the gasket. I've snugged the bolts that I can get to, and I plan to put in some LiquiMoly Motor Oil Saver to try to swell the seal. Is there anything else I can do?

you can try a high mileage oil. i put mobil super in my truck then pressure washed the bit of dirt and small amounts of oil off. they havent come back yet but that could have been years of minor sweating. worth a try. i had a 89 mpv with a mitsubishi v6 in it. it was a good van. lowered it and put nice rims on it. had cool dual exhaust and a bunch of engine mods. Of course it had the huge stereo. actually won a couple of competitions with it.

I just had mine resealed. I would try MaxLife or M1 High Mileage.

Other than replacing the gasket, I think it's going to be a hit or miss, because a great deal depends on the gasket material.

Motor Oil Saver did a great job rejuvenating the valve seals, and addressing a leak issue I had with the engine oil cooler hose's o-rings with my Mercury. But it didn't really do much for my weeping valve cover gaskets and grommets.

Do you mean that you replaced the gasket?
